June 16, 2006: Bryant scores 81 points for the Los Angeles Lakers in a January against Toronto which is the second highest points to be scored in a single game in NBA history. Nike has just released a Bryant signature shoe that sold well and added several million to his $10 million Nike base pay. He also announced plans to switch his jersey number from 8 to 24.

May 18, 2006: Los Angeles Lakers star Kobe Bryant has called critique of his play in a Game 7 loss to the Phoenix Suns "completely inaccurate," and said the team is evolving.
